MOL to time-charter three Panamax newbuildingsThe coal & ore carrier division of Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has decided to time-charter three Panamax bulker newbuildings under long contracts by engaging 融資domestic shipowners. Two 70,000-dwt vessels and one 80,000-dwt vessel will be ordered from compatriot yards for completion in 2013. They are primarily meant to replace the vessels currently in operation. 酒店經紀Panamax bulkers under MOL's control are operated by its three divisions -- coal & ore carrier, dedicated bulk carrier and bulk carrier. The coal & ore carrier division will be procuring Panamax 買屋網bulker newbuildings for the first time in 4-5 years. Outside the upcoming order, it has no such vessels on order at the moment.The division currently has a fleet of around 20-25 Panamax bulkers, including 酒店兼職those chartered for a period longer than a year. It runs them to move coking coal for steelmakers in Japan, China and South Korea, steaming coal for European power utilities and coking coal for European steel 售屋網mills. Most of the vessels are chartered and need to be returned to the owners upon expiry of the contracts. This requires the division to regularly replace them with newbuildings. With ship prices staying 汽車貸款lower since the Lehman shock, the division has decided to put the replacement order, convinced that now is a good chance to compose a more competitive fleet.During the last shipping boom, the division focused 烤肉食材on procurement of Capesize bulker and ore carrier newbuildings. After the Lehman shock, it has ordered six large-size bulker newbuildings. These includes two 180,000-dwt Capesizes ordered at home for delivery 酒店經紀in 2012-2014, two 200,000-dwt Capesizes ordered from Universal Shipbuilding Corp. (USC) for delivery in 2011-2012, and two 300,000-dwt ore carriers ordered from USC for delivery in 2012-2013.
